Fancy a walk?
A stile next to our canal bridge (Bridge 10) gives access to the Llangollen canal tow path.
Downstream — canal on your left
If walking with the canal on your left (going downstream), you will find a canal lock (about 100m) and another shortly after. Many boaters love getting walkers involved in opening the locks for them and great exercise for kids. Within about 15min walk you will see Swanley Marina. If you walk further along this direction you will eventually come to a T-junction. Left takes you towards The Olde Barbridge Inn (01270 439838) which does great food and sits right alongside the canal (about 1hr 15min walk from our bridge). Turning right at the T-junction will take you to Nantwich where you'll pass Nantwich Marina.
Upstream — canal on your right
If walking with the canal on your right (upstream), you will have lovely open countryside. At Bridge 12 (about 12 mins) there is a footpath. Follow this for about 300m then look for another stile on the right leading across a field. This will take you to a small lane which ends opposite The Farmers Arms, Ravensmoor 01270 627778 (25min walk from our Bridge). I can recommend the steak and ale pie! But worth checking their serving times as these sometimes vary.
Dairy Zone
If you walk as far as Bridge 13, you will see a sign for Dairy Zone, where you can buy farm fresh milk and make your own milkshakes. Follow the signs and arrows across the fields to the farm. This is about 25mins walk from our bridge.
